Dear PUSD Community,
On behalf of the Pomona Unified School District, welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! This summer, the administration, faculty, and staff have worked diligently to update facilities, refine our curriculum and instructional practices, and enhance our resources so that every student can thrive and learn. The Pomona Unified School District is proud of its many accomplishments and is committed to providing the highest level of instruction within a deep and rigorous academic program.
Developing strong relationships with our families is a critical component of our Six Essentials to ensure student success. I believe that communication is a vital part of this school-to-home partnership.
Here are some helpful tips to improve the likelihood of your child's success:

Talk to your child about school and reinforce that success at school is a priority.

Provide a dedicated time and place for your child to do his/her homework.

Ensure your child is on time to school every day with minimal absences.

Familiarize yourself with the Student Handbook and/or school disciplinary policies.

Establish open communication with your child's teacher/s.

Participate in school-based activities, such as PTA/PTO, School Site Council, BAC, Parent Workshops, and Open House.

Access school and district websites for information (www. pusd.org).
We are a community that values learning. Our parents, teachers, staff, volunteers, business leaders and community members are all integral to our success. We must continue this strong collaboration, be willing to work together, and hold one another accountable for the success of our students. The Pomona Unified School District Board of Education and the administrative staff appreciate your dedication and your willingness to share your talents, knowledge, and your wisdom with our schools.
